Want to start taking it but want to know any risks and if it’s generally safe

I’m also 17 and still growing if that’s a factor

Safe as long as you don’t overdo your exposure to sun
 
technically no, since it increases risk of melanoma since you're speeding up melanin production, see a dermatologist every 6 months anyway
