Throughout the entire history of sexual reproduction, males have been biological cannon fodder. In light of this, it is completely reasonable that men, even in our modern-day civilized societies, generally lead unhappy lives as they struggle to reproduce. We should not expect happiness as a given or as a right. The vast majority of men throughout history have desperately struggled to either survive or reproduce... so we should not expect any different.

No. Ugly men didn't usually survive into adulthood in prehistoric hunter-gatherer times, as the poor genes would have been extremely disadvantageous for survival. That didn't stop men with relatively good genes from being cannon fodder, struggling to survive from day to day.

No... to clarify, I shouldn't have simply said "nature" itself, I should have said the relation of males to the evolutionary model of sexual reproduction makes them cannon fodder, in said model.

Some cannon fodder might be able to shoot a few enemies or make it across enemy lines and make a difference. Most do not.
