I'm reading The Iliad right now and this nonsense even exists in that book. "Weak as men are today" is said multiple times in the book. One of the old heads in the book even says Achilles and the other generals don't compare to the generals he fought alongside when young. Gimme a fucking break.

The whole hard times creating strong men thing is true. You can already see the new generations toughening up compared to the absolutely pathetic millenials, that generation is a disgrace tbh.

Regarding the Iliad, you've got to keep the context in mind. Homer was writing hundreds of years later, well into the iron age. Of course the men of his day were pathetic when compared to the men of the heroic age. I remember the passage where Ajax lifted a huge boulder and threw it with full force into the chest of an opp and it was said that the men of today couldn't even lift that rock.

And while Nestor was a nostalgic old fuck (respectfully though), you gotta keep in mind they were frustrated as shit because they were sitting on their asses for 10 YEARS, not being able to take Troy, if you were Nestor you would also think "damn if only I was in my prime and my boys were here, we could easily take this bitch like in the good ol days".

It’s not bullshit. There are actual studies showing that testosterone levels have drastically dropped and things like chronic illness, fatigue, and mental health issues are way more common now. We are also the first generation that is bombarded with chemicals, microplastics and endocrine disruptors 24/7. It's not our fault.
