Due to conservatism spread through mostly Abrahamic religion and societal influences in the form of sobriety, prudeness and the lesser role women had most men were guaranteed a wife. 1 in 17 men were only allowed to reproduce, men during the 19th/20th century were spoiled especially the generations after the big wars where women outnumbered men. There rise of Feminism, individualism gave women the ability to take care of themselves and run a household alone which no longer made them dependent on a man. This allows women to freely express their biological urge to have offspring with the strongest genes, women are simply regressing back to their natural state.
We are slowly seeing hints of this as the Pareto principle starts to skew more and more to the right (80/20) -> (90/10) -> (99/1) where at a certain point 1% of the men will get 99% of the women. The same as how 90%+ of all the money circulation is held by the top 10%. However this is not necessarily a bad thing, the weak genes will be weeded out and the new off spring will come out stronger and stronger, for example the reason why the Dutch are so tall is through women selectively going for taller males.
Women are simply following their instincts and men can only abide by it, the only thing we can be mad about is that we just have been born in the wrong time.
Having off-spring is considered a privilege for males and men were spoiled in recent centuries, it was not a normal phenomenon throughout most of our history and it will never be.
