Yes, but they are afraid they could still lose money, that's why they don't take risks, the smarter you are, the less risks you want to take.
I know plenty of smart people who don't want to open a business, or become freelancers and prefer to work for others, because the salary is the safest option, even if they could totally be successful, they are still afraid something could go wrong.
