I just looked at an old photo of when I was about 16 and got my braces removed. My teeth now are perfectly straight with zero crowding with a probable increase in palate size (11-12 visible upper teeth).

Really goes to show how much of a shitshow the orthodontics profession is when a metal device gets mogged by doing exercises with your tongue.

If your teeth are mobile with constant force applied (they are, adult braces are a thing, my 60 year old aunt got them) then the force from the tongue has to push the teeth away and expand the dental arch.
