So, is mewing really useless? Many people claim it helps project the maxilla; however, this is mainly the case during infancy and early childhood. If you start mewing around age 14, it likely will not significantly change maxillary projection because the maxilla begins to mature and the sutures become more rigid with age, making expansion increasingly difficult even with orthopedic support. Correct me if I’m wrong; I remember reading this from a textbook.

However, mewing may still be beneficial for tongue posture and the hyoid area. I have noticed this myself: I don’t have perfect tongue posture, but the tip of my tongue naturally rests against the palate while the rest of my tongue does not. I’ve noticed that the area where my tongue makes contact with the palate is where I have less hyoid sagging, while the rest appears slightly lower.

I mean for me personally i noticed better forward growth and a more projected maxilla after starting to mew. Tho i started young when all those mewing vids started going mainstream in 2023, so i probably benefited from that and generally chewing hard food since i was a kid

I think both points can be true. Saying it has some benefits doesn’t mean I believe it can create the dramatic forward growth that people often claim. My point was that there may be small benefits, like improving tongue posture or oral habits, but those are often exaggerated into claims of major skeletal changes. I was just trying to give a balanced view rather than saying it’s completely useless or that it’s a guaranteed transformation.
