You sure that you only said ''little overblown?'' because most people against it go absolutely nuts about how fake it is.
most people do believe covid and they don't want to take ANY chances with their life or their relatives lives.

It's true however that people would eat news like candy, real or fake. and it's pretty easy to mess with their heads
fear is the main factor, the people that fear covid would want to put you into the same net so you keep their cortisol in check.

they wouldn't risk anything no matter how small it is, even tho they have higher chances of dying by a car accident or other similar
deadly stuff, but you don't see them protest about how bad we people run it, or taking only the bus, or lock themselves at home.

the media pumping covid, covid, covid. and people are easily influenced by it, it becomes the norm and people hate outsiders.
and it's pretty easy to talk freely about something if 80%+ of the people have your back on it.
