These are the people who are smart enough to not be completely retarded but not smart enough to actually understand or think about anything.
The biggest ways to know you’re dealing with a midwit is
1.if they are pedantic or can’t understand a generalization.
You will say something like “French people speak French better than Americans”
Then they will find this one niche example of this American who speaks perfect French and then this French person who was raised by wolves in a forest and can’t speak French
They will then say “see look at this your point is deboonked now!”. They’re smart enough to understand the point but can’t reason beyond it
2. They use big words unnecessarily or incorrectly
Language is about communication, complex language is often needed to convey high level ideas. What Midwits do however is they use complex language even when it’s not necessary.
Which defeats the whole point of language, if you’re actually smart and have good points you’ll convey it in the simplest way possible so people can actually fucking understand you.
But since Midwits don’t actual have anything to say they use complex language(often incorrectly) to pretend like they do.
3. They misrepresnt concepts and then keep misrepresenting them even when you explain it
For example if you say something like morality is subjective they’ll say something like “so you think it’s ok to kill children” and then pretend like they’ve debunked your stance on morality.
