I had this question before completing my readings about him. Mike Ma certainly recognized the importance of looks, even if he did not use the terminology.
In Gothic Violence, he writes: "The slightest understanding of fashion is your acceptance that the world is predicated on looks and violence.” He mentions how being handsome results in "boundless female distraction," thus recognizing the halo effect women have. In Harassment Architecture, Ma says: "Not everyone who smokes is handsome but everyone who is handsome smokes." Ma also recognizes the phenomenon of people receiving more leeway merely for their looks, even if they were committing crimes.
Ma, therefore, recognizes the importance of looks in terms of power, status, and attraction. While he is certainly a little more visceral in his outlook, it is still more aesthetic than pure genetic determinism. His ideology is hypermasculine, and hates on modern weakness and ugliness.
