minoxidil is the only fda approved hair stimulant that has been proven to have an effect, nothing else has ever been proven to have a lasting effect (despite the variety of supplements that come out in the market)

you can try using rosemary/castor oil available retail thats cheaper, but it will lack the efficacy and long lasting effects of minoxidil (hence minoxidil is likely worth the price, try oral tablets which tend to be cheaper)
you can source minoxidil for cheaper through sources like costco/walmart which is much cheaper than the brand name rogaine ones. 6 month supply can be 15-30 dollars
other than that you can try derma rolling but it wont have a large effect on its own, only micro ones

other alternatives like latisse which have been proven to work for stuff like eyebrows are all pricier so minoxidil should be ur cheapest solution
