In individuals without clinically diagnosed androgenetic alopecia (or balding), what is the expected effect of topical minoxidil on the frontal hairline and thickening of hair?
Specifically, does minoxidil primarily act by increasing the diameter and growth phase duration of already miniaturizing hairs, or is there evidence that it can meaningfully thicken non-miniaturized, terminal hairs or induce new terminal growth along a stable hairline?
In other words, if no active follicular miniaturization is present, would topical minoxidil be expected to produce visible hairline improvement, or would its effect be minimal?
Any studies or finding of this? I know it works for eyebrows and beard hair but is it worth doing everyday?
