Minoxidil on beard

I read that minoxidil on beard can cause hair shedding, can someone verify

also, if I use Minoxidil for 6 months and I'd stop using it, can I expect the hair to stay because I heard that for the beard it's not the same as for your hair. Whilst if you stop using it on the hair your growth apparently goes back but with the beard that isn't the case

The way it works it’s that it accelerates hair growth cycle so yes it will shed faster. But after that it will also grow faster. You need to wait till the hair turn terminal 6 months isn’t long enough I think.
