Since men and women suffer a different cost from reproduction this causes both of the genders to view reproduction in a different way
I made this flowchart to hopefully show this idea better
Note that the cost of reproduction is only relevant in long term relationships
Though it is important to note that since the act of sex requires a male and female
and the male isn't nearly as selective the female
The female essentially bottlenecks the male
