When I first joined judo, I came in knowing I was going to get my ass beat no doubts. I knew that most men would fuck me up, I stood at only 5'5 and weight like 130lb max. I was very nervous but excited. So I came in the class sheepishly as fuck. I had done some judo before at uni, so I knew very basic things like how to fall and like one or two throws. My uni judo club was full of other white belts though and so I had beaten most girls due to strength adv. But anyways I go to the new judo club in my hometown ready to learn and get my ass kicked.
And so I tell the coach I did a few lessons and know the basics of how to breakfall - if I hadn't, I'd not have really been able to spar.
We do some drills and learn like a hip toss or some shit.
And so now it's sparring time, I am paired with a 5'2 thai girl. She weighs 100lb. I got my ass kicked. I'm not even joking, I got thrown like a ragdoll, choked, I didn't know wtf was going on. Strength didn't work, I only just gassed myself out when I tried harder. I was outskilled and outmatched. No chance I could beat her.
I asked her how long has she been training for, she replies with "about 2.5 years".
I then started getting some respect for her tbh. It shows that women can actually be as dedicated as men. I'd go further and say this. Most guys couldn't stick to a hobby/sport for more than a few months. Most men in 2022, work then go watch netflix and drink beers or watch football at the pub. Most people are not active. Yet this woman was able to keep a sport for 2.5 years, she lifted and as I later found out she was a huge reader and into self-improvement. If she was a guy, most people would call her based and shit, but niggas on here will say I'm a simp and giving her extra credit because she is a woman.
No. I'm giving her credit because she actually changed my views, she made me realise I was wrong in my view and not to judge people so fast.
Tbh I was never a massive woman hater to begin with, but I did hold the belief that women were unable to be dedicated to something unless they got validation.
MMAmaxxing really helped shift my views on people and exposed me to weird and wonderful characters e.g. the local schizo at my bjj gym who believes TV sends delta waves which brainwash you jfl
