How do I talk to people.

Stop trying to force your niche hobbies into general small talk. Most people just want to talk about themselves anyway.

Master the FORD method (Family, Occupation, Recreation, Dreams). Ask basic open questions, let them talk 70% of the time, and just steer the conversation. Once you build rapport, then you can drop the niche interests.
