All the current selfishness and degeneracy that now dominates western society is merely the normal result of simply leaving most people to their own devices free of interference. In past eras, you had a small minority of individuals whom were atypically intelligent that could see the need for a shared moral framework and the need to enforce said framework on other weaker people for the greater good of society. In the late 20th century, for the first time those things were done away with. The result is now obvious to everybody.

The reason this is such a huge blackpill is that it means we will never live in a world that is free, since a free world is simply doomed to destroy itself. Freedom will never exist except for a brief time before it all destroys itself.

Sure, though it's not an instant event, but a multigenerational one. When you leave alone an individual who has grown into virtue, he will maintain his virtuous ways till his death bed. But he will not be able to fully transmit this virtue to his children without the help of the surrounding society. So every generation you get individuals who are a bit more degenerate than the previous generation... until eventually either the social fabric breaks down or the cultural degeneracy hits a point that the innate human biology can't stomach.
