Arguably the most important thing medicine, if powerful, should be able to solve or at least be able to give a big relief, is pain. Modern medicine is a joke in terms of giving people net pain relief. Opioids? Those do not give net pain relief after withdrawal or long-term use, also opium has been known since at least 3400 BC in Mesopotamia lol. Acetaminophen/Paracetamol is basically the best that modern medicine can provide in terms of net pain relief, just pathetic. The only thing with severe pain modern medicine can do is to smoothen out the pain/suffering curve with opioids, but again that is nothing new.

The argument sometimes used is "Look how much longer people live now" but actually a lot of that is infant mortality which was much higher back then. Even 1000 years ago if you reached the age of 8-9, your expected lifespan, and certainly healthspan, was not that much different than today. It was not uncommon for people to get to the age of 70, even 1000 years ago.

Now technology is a different thing. We have impressive technology, I agree, but medicine is lagging behind

In semaglutide study they lose like 12% more weight than placebo but only something like 1.15% body fat more. Obesity is fundamently not a weight problem but body fat percentage problem, if people lose almost 50/50 fat/miscle then it's not so good

Phentermine is a modified non psychoactive amphetamine and the appetite supression slightly higher then racemix cause of its work on almost only norepinephrine and no dopamine.

It is until you build tolerance, which in my case is literally happening to a very significant degree within days. No doubt that amphetamine crushes your appetite without decreasing metabolism, but the great effect is only short-term, long term you may still maintain some percentage of its initial effects but nothing like in the beginning. If Phentermine doesn't work on dopamine then its appetite crushing effect is certainly weaker than amphetamine, but may be more sustainable long-term, I don't know

Two relatively minor injuries at the gym. One was in my ankle joint, something popped when I was squatting, the moment it happened in the gym it really was not a big deal in terms of acute pain maybe something like 5.5/10, but it developed into chronic pain which lasted for over 4 years and eventually subsided on its own. The second was my shoulder when I was doing OHP, very similar, not that strong acute pain when it happened but chronic pain from it lasted over 4 years. At the time I was very much into the gym and had to give up it because it was impossible to train with this. I remember at one point I accepted I'll probably never be able to train again, but to my surprise pain disappeared eventually, it just took so fucking long, so much unnecessary (there was no significant body damage) pain.
