What career?I don’t even want to get rich I just don’t want to have to spend the entire next decade just to earn £300k that will only get you an ultra poverty lifestyle as passive income.
But I picked the wrong career.
Mechanical engineerWhat career?
Think getting into trades is the best way to go?Mechanical engineer
Depends where you live tbh. Here in America you’ll have blue collar halo but you’ll be beaten down and broken by 30Think getting into trades is the best way to go?
I dropped out of mech eng.

You won’t be retired at 30 working a trade. You want to be retired by 30 anyway honestly, it’s fucking over to be working in your 30s.

The tradesmen I know who make the most money have gone through their apprenticeship, worked for a company for a few years then started a company on their own. They work like fuck but one of my customers makes over 340k a year just plumbing by himself, but there are drawbacksIf you live at your parents and invest everything you might.
It’s still a fuck ton more money and less opportunity cost than a degree. Yes I could do my desk job for another 30 years physically but I’m literally suicidal every day because of it.

He works by himself, rarely gets time off. If he gets hurt and can’t work then there is 0 money coming inMore money in a year than I can make in a lifetime, I don’t see drawbacks at all.
ur a mechanical engineer probably older than 21 and ur broke is what I’m hearing?Mechanical engineer

Those tools are very expensive though, you could write it off on taxes but still. I would recommend busting your ass for a few years then hiring some low wage Hispanics that you pay under the tableThe former is his choice for being greedy and the latter is a business risk that’s more than compensated by making insane money…
I would start a business but it’s impossible in my field without huge amounts of seed capital that the career simply doesn’t pay enough to ever accumulate. The stuff I design at work is often into the millions of unit cost.
Plumber just needs some tools and a van.
What fuck I might be cooked, I might just take a lot more risks now and by the way I’m 19 so I’m most likely fucked by the time I graduate.Yes the career is systemically fucked, £40-50k is the max salary for this and tbh it’s still dropping due to new grads flooding.

Did you go to a good school?
Where are u from? I also hear people who got into good schools who are also broke or just can’t find a jobThey are not, I am well aware of what tools cost. You could easily get fully kitted out after saving a year or two of pay.
No my school was garbage. If you are in a good school you can use engineering degree to get into finance or possibly tech.
I’m from Scotland. Honestly it’s fucking over without rich parents at this point. Stock markets are at insane highs and wages are suppressed, there’s no way to make money if you don’t already have a ton of it.Where are u from?
