So until fairly recently I hadainly only noticed recession in the temples, which wasn’t and I still don’t find all that severe, however, recently I started to notice some thinning in the middle front portion of the head, which is pretty much how male pattern baldness progresses, and the sides seem to not have receded even further.

——————

I’ve seen mixed opinions on monoxidil, finesteride and dutasterie, so I hadn’t yet hopped on.

——————

My question basically is
Do I notice less volume in the middle, due to strands of hair falling, thus less density, or just the slimming of the strands and not them falling, and could this be fixed with minoxidil alone. Or is it probably a combination of both, so strand thinning, and strand falling.

If there’s no downsides to monox and fin, u might say well hop on anyway u lose nothing, if that’s the case, however, as I mentioned above, I’ve seen different types of comments on the subject matter

I have the same problem.

Likely a combination of both. It's a process known as follicular miniaturization.

While using minox alone can certainly help increase the thickness of your existing strands and stimulate some new growth, it acts primarily as a growth stimulant and does not address the underlying hormonal root cause of male pattern baldness.

Either Way, DYOR.

But is the thinning just in the areas where the pattern continues, or over the whole head, I assume DYOR stands for do your own research?

And do you take fin or duta?

Yes

The thinning typically occurs only in hormone sensitive areas like the temples, hairline, and crown. The hair on the back and sides of the head is generally genetically resistant to this process and maintains its normal density.

If you notice uniform thinning across your entire scalp, including the sides and back, it could mean a different type of hair loss, such as diffuse thinning or a temporary shedding condition.
And do you take fin or duta?
I'm currently 17. I'm going to start oral minoxidil 2.5 mg soon, and I'll prolly add finasteride once I turn 19 or 20.

From what I’ve seen so far only a small percentage of people see side effects from it, and even in those, they go away, but I also think it’ll have placebo effects even if there will be no “real” effects
