Hello looksmaxxers, this is my first official post on this forum after roughly 2 years of non-interaction.
I had a particular conversation with my friend, and I want some feedback people who have been objectively faced with the cruelty and hardships of the world.
For context: Both me and my friend are high school seniors. My friend is, although albeit quite smart, an objectively attractive NT pretty boy coming from a loving family and high income household. He understood the blackpill well enough, but his circumstances will never fully allow him to understand it completely. I'm a little different. Household wise, I can't say I differ from him quite much (loving parents, high income). The main separator is our non-family-related upbringing. Right now I'd give myself a solid MTN, but I used to be really unattractive. I glew up, but the years of isolation and bullying may have caused me to steer a little towards neurodivergence.
Yesterday we had an indepth philosophical conversation about Ab*rtion and it's morality.
My stance: Although I am personally against Ab*rtion as I think it's unnecessary in a perfect world, I still morally support it due to the fact that it prevents unnessary suffering. Not allowing abortion forces the burden of the parents to fall on the children (genetic defects, poor households, overall shitty genetic qualities). Abortion in this way objectively improves society because it allows limiting the amount of genetic fuck ups in the world (think drug addicts, criminals, those born with impulsive disorders)
Friend's stance: Without abortion, it creates opportunity. He used celebrities coming out from tough circumstances as an example (very weak). His argument relies on the fact that as long as there's one success story out of a sea of failures, then it's overall worth it. Abortion would fundamentally suppress the "success story", making it "wrong".
I asked him a hypothetical: If it was possible to accurately predict a child's chances of success with genetics, would it still be wrong? Say the doctors use some sort of genetic screening on a poor single mother and give an unborn child a 99 percent chance of being a fuck up, but a one percent chance of being successful. Would it still be worth it to take the gamble, or would it be ignorant to not follow the logical choice of ab*rting?
