In my experience, it's usually the opposite. The ones with very high rep ratios are usually contributors, though; except for those doing giveaways or eviscs, but I guess they're contributing in their own way too. My threads are all slop, but I barely post threads anyway. I usually respond with pretty elaborate stuff.
