Blacks have dark brown to very dark brown skin, it's just that in most lightening it looks Black or appears Black, but when there's light, it clearly looks brown.

Modern definition of white is based on descent from indo europeans and EEF farmers, EEF farmers were somewhat swarthy while indo europeans are where the blonde hair and blue eyes come from, all european groups descend from both of these groups with varying levels of percentage (southern europe is far less indo european descended and thus tends to look more swarthy, while slavics and NW european groups are far more lighter in complexion and hair which makes them far more lighter)
