Context
Man has accidentally made the biggest mistake of his life , which in results in his two kids burning to death.
This scene is the aftermath when he goes to talk to the police about what happened.
He is trying to say everything he did so they can punish him.
When they tell him that he won't get punished goes outside grabs a police officers gun and immediately pulls the trigger only to find out the pistol jammed/locked.
