This is also subject to lies right, I don't know anything about the source or how this data is collected but there's probably a lot of larping going on on the men's side right?

It's the internet I think that basically sums it up. It may sound like a lazy and obvious answer but it's the simple truth. It gives you endless easy entertainment and excuses to not socialize or participate in the real world. It also constantly exposes you to people who are "better" than you which is very bad for your psyche. I really don't believe its much more complicated than that. If you took away everyone's computer and phone virginity and loneliness would plummet.

yes but I mean in a way that the number of male virgins is in actuality higher, I agree with your point.
I get what you are saying

People lie about slaying all the time
to gain social status or to fit in

I meant the number will stay around the same anyway

sorry, my autocorrect, I meant larping
It shouldn’t account for much, I haven’t seen the source for this data but I’m assuming it’s anonymous given this is Health statistics from a government agency.
The error for uncertainty will be largely the same throughout

Though given the anonymity, I can’t see any reason why the data would be wrong.. unless perhaps the definition for what all these individuals count as “sex” might be different?

INTRODUCTION

✦•······················•✦•······················•✦

Below are CDC-published figures, showing the number of adults who haven’t had any heterosexual contact (vaginal, oral or anal), in the cohorts 2002, 2006-2008.

After this, the following public reports don’t post the same age range breakdowns. They have it totalled for the entire 25-44 range.
Which is not good because we would like to see comparisons.

So what I did was, I got the micro-data from every NSFG release and I ran some code in Jupyter with this public-use micro-data, and got the following tables.
Btw, the micro-data is essentially just many rows of results. Each row gives all the answers that one anonymous survey respondent has given.
In this case, the sample size was roughly 40,000 across all cohorts (post 2011-).

Here is the following data:

Here it is graphed, non cumulative, to see how all individual age groups differ through the last 2 decades (where the midpoint year of every cohort contains the value):

Below is the total cumulative (all ages 25-44) across the last 2 decades:

✦•······················•✦•······················•✦

List of all the reasons for this change:

1. Hypergamy, partly due to rise of smartphones and Social Media
2. More men enrolled in college and living with parents aged 25-29
3. More men engaging in online gaming (less in person socialization)
4. The increase in pornography consumption of 2010's society
5. Delaying marriage and relationships to prioritize economic success

The last point is very interesting, considering the Great Recession occurred from late-2007 to mid-2009. Could that be the cause?

✦•······················•✦•······················•✦

Questions:

Why were 35-39 year old men virgins at such high rates in 2018, but their 40-44 year old counterparts were lower than women?

Why was the cohort for men aged 25-29 ONLY so large in 2012, compared to women?

What else do you think contributed to an increase in Virginity during Pre-COVID?
