this is the sequel to my depression isn't real thread. depression is nothing more than claiming you feel sad a lot. some people are more susceptible to it because of their genetics but that isn't to say genetics are the cause, it is mostly environmental.
similarly, autism, bipolar, adhd, borderline, etc are all defined on a spectrum. well people not on the "spectrum" still vary in proximity to the described characteristics. you know what another word for these are? personality traits. lmao at thinking they are some magical discrete abstractions with a concrete meaning.
and then you have shit like synethstasia which sounds like complete bullshit. I'm sure their mind has managed to convince themselves that they perceive numbers as colours or whatever. but I don't buy that they genuinely perceive it that way for a second.
even with schizophrenia very little is known about the genetic cause and it is thought to be largely environmental
it is important to note that I'm not denying the physical manifestations of these "conditions". I just think it's silly to treat and label people differently because they ticked a certain number of boxes in a questionnaire for psychological evaluation.
