This space (looksmax, blackpill, incel forums, the whole orbit) used to be for guys whose problem was primarily genetic/looks-based from the jump (Truecels essentially), the ones who were cooked early

The people I see on the forums (in the modern sense) are the ones this 4chan greentext was talking about when it said the average guy just exists and milestones happen without conscious effort, high school girlfriend, job, house, kids, no self-improvement required

It was right that normal people's lives used to just.. happen, if they weren’t genetic dead ends, it was wrong in assuming that the only people who miss those milestones are mutants, because the contemporary data has shifted HARD

Less than half of 12th graders go on dates now, the percentage of 30-year-olds who are both married and homeowners has collapsed from over 50% in the mid-20th century to around 10% in the early 2020s, social and economic decay is real, atomization is real, the dating market is harder, the job market is harder, the “natural flow” that used to carry mid-tier and even some low-tier guys into a normal life is broken for a much larger share of the population

So what happens?

Guys who could have been normies 20-30 years ago hit the wall, no girlfriend in high school or college, struggling to get a real job or afford independence, no natural social momentum, they start searching for an explanation, and the blackpill (and its looksmax cousin) is sitting right there, ready with a complete worldview: lookism is absolute, hierarchy is fixed, most of you are cooked, here’s the PSL scale, here’s why nothing you do will matter unless you ascend

A big chunk of the current user base is not truecels, they are failed normies

Their primary problem is often social, mental, economic, or a combination (essentially mentalcels), not pure genetic shit that put them in the bottom 5-10%, a lot of you guys would have been mid or even high-tier normies in a healthier society, you just have enough raw material that, in a different environment, the milestones would have just happened, instead you got the broken version of modernity, hit the wall, and ended up here

You see it in the content shift too, the explosion of “loser confessional” videos - zoomers in a dimly lit room or car talking about the job market, dating, how nothing is working - these rack up views because they resonate with a growing pool of failed normies, not because every viewer is a genetic subhuman, some of it is even content-farmed (AI scripts, high output for the algorithm), the space has become a magnet for people who are failing the normal path, not just the ones who never had a chance at it

Truecels still exist (obv), the ones who were never going to get the natural flow no matter the era, our diagnosis is different, for us the blackpill is more descriptive of their actual situation, but we are no longer the majority of the people consuming and posting this stuff

Most of the current volume is failed normies who found a framework that explained their suffering, gave them a hierarchy to place themselves in, and offered a (usually hopeless) path of “ascension"

The distinction matters a LOT, if your main issues are social skills, mental health, discipline, environment, economic position, or just being born into a decaying social fabric, treating yourself like a pure genetic dead end can become a self-fulfilling trap, you start optimizing for the wrong variables or, worse, internalizing that it’s completely over when it isn’t, looks matter, but the idea that the only people who struggle are the bottom of the PSL scale is outdated, the environment got worse, more people are getting filtered out of the normal path

This is why the space feels flooded, and why a lot of the advice and the fatalism gets applied to people it wasn’t originally calibrated for

Most of you don’t belong here in the original sense of the term, you belong to a larger, newer category of men who got hit by systemic decay instead of (or on top of) pure lookism, the blackpill became popular not because society suddenly produced way more genetic mutants, but because the old automatic escalator to a normal life broke for a much bigger percentage of guys
