Lurker
I've pretty much accepted at this point that it's over. I am just fugly as shit (my traits aren't bad but my dad beat my face in at a young age so i'm completely and utterly assymetrical in every single way possible).

I have never rid a motorized vehicle in my life other than my car. I want to get a crotch rocket of some sort because they look sick but I want a good beginner bike. Anyone know anything good, cuckedit doesnt have very consistent answers.

crotch rockets are all the same, just pick one that looks nice and research it to see if it is reliable or if it has a lot of problems.

Are you serious online everyone says not to start with 600 because it's death sentence
You will enjoy it alot more in the long run.
As long as you respect the power you will be fine you will get bored of a 300 very quickly and they just look to small. 60ps are a good middle point enough power you wont get bored but still manageable since sport bikes are geared high. The only downside would be is learning on a bigger thicker bike you have to learn more and shit but it's really no difference you will learn quickly. Stay safe

Ok thanks bro which one should I get though? And how the fuck do I start as a beginner legit I have no family at all and no friends that ride bikes it's just me jfl

If you're in the US, take the MSF course before anything. You'll need a good full face helmet (I have an AGV K1, it's cheap and both DOT and ECE rated), jacket, gloves, boots, etc. For the MSF you only need the helmet since you never exceed like 25 MPH, but you'll want all the gear when you actually ride. All in, you can get a decent set of gloves, a jacket, and boots for around $500 if you're willing to buy used.

As for what bike to get, I don't actually have a bike yet so I can't directly speak to anything except the bike I rode at the MSF, which was a Harley Street 500. It weighs about 500 lbs (heavy as fuck) and only has 30 ft-lb of torque and around 35 horsepower, but it still felt pretty fast.

Since you said you want a sportbike, you could go with any of the beginner-oriented 300cc sportbikes as long as you fit comfortably on them. Another option is an older 600 from like the 90s or early 2000s. Not only are they going to be cheaper and faster, but you won't be as upset if you dropped them and cracked the fairing or something.

I wouldn't get anything too far over 100 horsepower tbh, sportbike throttles are so incredibly touchy and the bikes themselves are retarded fast, any random 600 can do 0-60 in under or around 3 seconds which will murder 99% of cars.

Do you know anything about how I should actually get a used bike? Are older bikes from the 90s perfectly fine? And how much miles are too many miles? Like over 150k on a car is too many miles, what about motorcycles though? Also thanks for the info bro, super, super helpful. I screenshotted for later.

Buying a used bike is pretty much the same process as buying a used car, you'll pay taxes, get the title, and have to get insurance. Check your local craigslist or find out if there's a powersports dealership near you, many of them sell used motorcycles in addition to new ones, and will normally have a service department too.

Older bikes are fine but will probably have been dropped at some point in their life, but as long as it wasn't at a high speed, the bike itself should be okay. However if the frame is bent or damaged, walk away. You can see if a bike was dropped if the fairing, mirrors, foot pegs, gas tank, or handlebars are cracked, dented, or scraped. If the scrape is long and deeply gouged in, the bike was most likely dropped at a high speed and should be avoided. Also watch out for replacement fairings on sportbikes. You can tell if they're replacements if they don't have the manufacturer's logo/designs or are color mismatched. This usually means the bike was in a bad enough accident that the whole original fairing was destroyed and other essential components could be as well.

A high mileage motorcycle is usually around 50k miles. Japanese I4 bikes (i.e. stereotypical crotch rockets) are on average more reliable than something like a old Ducati, though all motorcycles require special maintenance. You'll need to do valve adjustments (mileage intervals vary between bikes), inspect the chain and check the tires before each ride, lube the chain, if your bike is carbureted you'll need to adjust that periodically, etc. A powersports dealership or motorcycle repair shop can do most of the big maintenance items.

Sick. So should I avoid bikes off Facebook marketplace? They are cheaper but I don't know what I am looking for, and dealerships always cost thousands more in my experience. Also should I just buy an Yamaha R6 and forget a beginner bike? And how do I even learn how to drive a bike as a complete and utter noob jfl, should I go take a course and have them teach me, I'm willing to pay hundreds of dollars to learn tbh.

Facebook marketplace will probably be the same as craigslist which is a good way to find bikes. R6s have around 120 horsepower which is a lot, but they only make that power high up in the rev range, meaning you really have to rev it out to go very fast. Also consider how you'll fit on a sportbike like an r6, the handlebars are low and the foot pegs are high so you sit in a really leaned over position which puts lot of strain on your wrists. If you really want it it go for it, just be careful.

A complete newbie would start off with the MSF course which allows you to skip the riding test to get your license, but you still have to do the written portion. Finish the course and pass the written test and you'll have your license.

Awesome bro. Will the MSF course teach me everything I need to know to pass the written portion as well? Or should I study for that

It will teach you mostly everything but your state should have a motorcycle handbook you can study.

Ok I live in Florida I'm gonna figure out how to get it and just start reading it. Also so you think a Yamaha R6 would get me killed as a first bike

dont start with anything extreme, r6 is not a good start, start with something easy but funny, you can even think about yamaha mt, or some motard, theyre cool.
