- Overview/what we will cover
- Why you should tape your mouth
- What mouth taping is
- How to tape your mouth
- Anecdotes/anxiety
- TLDR
Mouth taping is where you put tape over your mouth while you sleep to ensure you breathe with your mouth closed. This will improve your sleep quality, as nose breathing is always the best way to breathe, especially during sleep. We will cover how to exactly do it so you don't suffocate (with some anecdotes).
- Would you allow yourself have horrible posture every single day at school/work? No. Same thing with sleeping; you are asleep for 8 hours a night, but you don't think about what you're doing while you're sleeping, because you're unconscious. Mouth breathing can recess you, especially during development. Luckily, we can very easily fix this.
- Mouth breathing causes snoring. People don't snore with their mouth closed. If you do what I will outline in a bit, your snoring will disappear.
- Nose breathing releases Nitric Oxide into your bloodstream, which helps with inflammation and skin cell repair.
- Sleeping with your mouth closed will improve the quality of your sleep. It's easy to do, and you don't have to think about it (because you're asleep).
It's what it sounds: put a small piece of tape (vertically) on your mouth before you go to bed. This will encourage you to nose breath, as it provides a bit of resistance against mouth breathing. However, if your nose gets clogged or covered, you will very easily be able to break the piece of tape.
In this section we will cover:
You are going to cut a thin strip, about .5x1.5 (inches), or 1.25x3.75 (centimeters). Notice how it's a small piece, and how it's a rectangle. Next, we are going to put it on our lips, vertically. Not covering the width of your lips, but going up and down the middle part, and onto your skin a little bit. If you do PM skincare, wait 30 minutes after your routine to apply this. If you have big lips, you may want to go a bit longer.

Something to keep in mind: don't let your parents/anyone see this (like all of looksmaxing). Close your door.
One time, by some miracle of God, I woke up at 7AM, took the tape off, went back to bed until late in the morning/afternoon, and my mom told me that she looked to see if I was alive because I was sleeping in so long. But imagine if she saw my mouth with a little bit of tape on it. She would have a heart attack. Close your door. She only saw me because my door was open.
I procrastinated this for a few months because whenever I would get the tape, I would get anxiety late at night. "Is it really worth it? Imagine if I die. I could easily suffocate. Low Risk-Reward." Trust me, if you follow the guide correctly, you will not die. Your first few times, put the tape on, and practice breaking it open with only your mouth. This will relieve your stress.
I also no longer do this, because nose breathing has simply become a habit. Over the past few months, mouth tape has turned me from a chronic mouth breather who snores, to a nose breather during the night.

TLDR:
- Mouth breathing is subhuman, including at night. It worsens your sleep quality, causes snoring, and can recess you.
- There is an easy fix: mouth tape. Take micro pore tape, painters tape, or even clear tape (just not duck tape), and cut a small little rectangle out.
- Put it down the vertically down the middle of your lips, so that it covers your lips, and sticks to a bit of skin
- If you have anxiety about it, don't procrastinate. Instead, put it on, and practice breaking it open with just your mouth. The tape is meant to be an encouragement to nose breathing, not a total gag.
