Mouthguard for palate widening, forward growth, and ccw rotation

Been seeing this quite a lot recently, including 6 month before and afters. Is there any sort of real scientific evidence to back it up or is it cope? I can sort of understand why people might at least think how it could widen the mouth, but don't see why it would affect forward growth.

A mouthguard will help if you have an habit of clenching or grinding in your sleep. Not sure how it would affect your palate, forward growth or anything else by itself
