My palate is already quite wide but I just want it a couple mm wider and my maxilla to grow wider and forward again. It’s not gonna grow on its own anymore and if I combine it with forward thumb pulling yes thumb pulling it should grow since the suture will be split. I’m sick of everyone telling me my face is “well developed” when it’s just not compared to what it could’ve been if I ate better as a kid. I already convinced my ortho to give me one but I’m still thinking about it and might get a second opinion from a more prestige clinic.
Things I wanna change with it:
- forward and outward growth
- Cheekbones higher
- infra orbital recession

Someone give their educated opinion

I don’t know what ortho would give you an plaate expander when your palate is already 42mm, are you holding their family hostage?

And it’s very unlikely you will get show benefits you want:

- forward and outward growth
- Cheekbones higher
- infra orbital recession

If you want those save up for the next 2 years , till you’re 18. And then get implants.

Because your palate is already wide , making it wider is stupid.
42 is above average but it’s not ideal and could be wider still

The average palatal width is 41-45mm in a male adult.

You are already in that range, you will gain nothing from palatal expansion in fact it would most likely do more harm then good.

If you want those benefits you listed , save up and wait till you’re 18 and get implants.
