But what if you were to spread the expansion over a year?
Would there be no separation of the teeth?
Would the nose still increase in width?
Would retainers after still be necessary?

i think its good to do while your sutures are already split cus it easier to go forward, or i pulled this out of my arse idk

if ur gonna do it make sure you go to a reputable ortho so they dont mess it up
If you're spreading the palate the same amount everything would still be the same no? And retainers still allow new bone to form and stabilize

Why

Expansion occurring for that long is almost never needed. You’ll only end up with asymmetry and I doubt a doctor will even allow it to go on for that long
