An incident occurred on a flight from London to Glasgow on Sunday, after one of the passengers shouted that he had a bomb, along with slogans “Death to America, death to (US President Donald) Trump” and “Allahu Akbar.”
The passenger who threatened with a bomb was subdued by Zoran Nasteski, of Macedonian and Serbian descent, who lives in Great Britain.
Nasteski tackled the man to the floor during the flight and held him until landing, when Scottish police took him over. Meanwhile, an investigation into a terrorist attack has been launched in the UK.
The Indian YouTube channel NDTV published a video of the incident showing the moment Nasteski subdues the passenger who is shouting that he has a bomb and insulting US President Donald Trump. Nasteski also posted the video on his own YouTube channel.
“Yesterday morning (July 27), I was on my way to Glasgow for a holiday. About ten minutes before landing, a man walked past me holding a coffee and a phone. At first, I was afraid he would spill hot coffee on me, so I moved away. Then he started shouting that he had a bomb and would bring down the plane, to prove that Trump’s policies were wrong,” Nasteski states.
Passengers panicked, Nasteski added, children were screaming, and the crew was visibly distressed.
“I just reacted instinctively; I wanted to protect others. I stood up, tackled him, took his phone, and held his hands until landing. Soon another passenger helped me; I’m not sure if he was English or Scottish,” Nasteski recounted.
Upon landing at the airport, firefighters and police came onto the runway and arrested the 41-year-old man. The entire event was recorded by a female passenger, who later sent the footage to Nasteski, who shared it online. The video quickly went viral on social media and was also published on the NDTV channel.
After ten years of working in Great Britain, Nasteski plans to move to Serbia with his partner, where he has family roots – his father is Macedonian, born in Skopje, and his mother is Serbian.
“I’m moving to Belgrade because I met the most wonderful woman in the world, Sandra,” Nasteski concludes.
EasyJet airline, regarding the incident, stated that the man was arrested immediately upon landing in Glasgow and that the flight staff are trained to act in incident situations so that the safety of everyone on board is not jeopardized.
