My accent reduction classes start from next week

Did you shut him down
Not really. I just asked a mod if he was an predeterminism alt to confirm and he was. Jfl. Nigga this is so fucking funny. I'm laughing rn. Nigga is an alt of an alt of an alt of an alt of an alt of an account called "predeterminism" that was created in 2021. Mods must be looking at his user file and be like what kind of nut case is this guy. Hahaha

Finally booked it. I'm trying to get my accent to a Neutral British accent or the modern RP. Not as posh as regular RP but still good.

I got a C1 and Band 8 in my overall assessment. More or less just as fluent as highly educated native speaker of English so they told I don't need to attend any English classes

This is my accent. I'll post my voice after 3-4 months from now.

Just 2 classes every week and simple talking assignments every other week. Let's see how this will go.
Your English is fine, but there is a noticeable indian accent. I commend you for taking this initiative

Holy shit it's over bro, there's no recover from that :feelscry:

How lucky I am to mingle with English boys at young age. Getting the accent rightly ingrained at when the time was right.

It’s definitely a noticeable accent but you don’t speak garbled or really fast and loud so it’s easier to understand you.

Use accentguess.com

They supposedly have a 95% accuracy

Even though I'm Indian, it recognised me as having an Australian accent :sneaky:

This is what the AI told me below

Based on the pronunciation in this recording, your accent may originate from Australia. Several phonetic features suggest this, such as the pronunciation of the vowel in "please" which sounds closer to an "ee" sound, and the way you pronounce the 't' in "stutter" which is often flapped or becomes a soft 'd' sound. The intonation pattern also has a slight upward tilt at the end of sentences, which is characteristic of Australian English.

The main area for improvement is in achieving a more consistent pronunciation of certain vowels and consonants that differentiate Australian English from other English accents. Specifically, the vowel sound in words like "please" could be refined. Additionally, the 't' sound in the middle of words like "stutter" can sometimes be softened to a 'd' sound, which is a common feature but can sometimes lead to a less clear pronunciation if overused. The intonation, while generally clear, could be smoothed out to sound even more natural.

To improve, I recommend the following:
  • Vowel Practice: Focus on clear and consistent pronunciation of individual vowel sounds. For words like "please," aim for a crisp "ee" sound.
  • Consonant Clarity: Pay attention to the pronunciation of 't' sounds. While the soft 'd' sound is a feature, consciously practice enunciating the 't' more clearly in contexts where it's needed for distinctiveness.
  • Intonation Practice: Listen to native Australian English speakers and try to mimic their sentence rhythm and intonation. There are many resources online that demonstrate these patterns.
  • Shadowing: A highly effective technique is "shadowing." Find audio recordings of Australian speakers and try to speak along with them, matching their pronunciation, rhythm, and intonation as closely as possible.
