Who remembers catching this in April 2024? https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/highstreet/

Waiting sucks. But so does losing your money. I will post the next call. But there are genuinely none. It has been 1 Year, and nothing.

It's just my own long term trading style. Lots of people trade differently and are successful or find their strategy.

Although I don't believe in 100% win rates. Especially not over time.

It's good to hear your short term trading is going well - I agree, now is definitely the environment to trade a bit more frequently and take advantage of the uncertainty and volatility.

Do you ever short cryptos, or short with leverage? Or are you long biased?

What's your main strategy for long term capital growth via crypto trading?

yea ofcourse everyone has his own way of trading. It's true that a 100% winrate is not possible without significant losses from time to time.
I'm more long biased, I have a hard time shorting atm since there's too much volatility for my liking and I suck at shorting when the whole market isn't screaming topped out yk. Even at market tops I only short super low lev so I don't get burned. My strategy's been the same since 2021 tbh, I DCA spot alts over longer periods of time from bearmarket bottom until the start of actual liquidity flow into alts. This cycle is pretty different tho, I started scaling way too early and I've seen more red than usual but that's why I like my strategy, there's no losing long term.
I just keep DCA'ing until markup starts and from there on out I start scaling out and slowly open short positions.
This time was different because crypto has become more institutionalized, cycle remains the same but the chop in between bull cycles has become harder to navigate and the timing has become irregular.

This is my last cycle tbh, after this I'm rotating my size into real estate, ETF's and stocks.

I'm curious as to what your strategy is, Do you not play by cycle rules and only ride definitive trends? + I've seen most of ur threads and if I'm guessing correctly you're more like one coin per time kinda guy?

Yeah one coin per time.

I like to buy into breakouts, meaning I'll be reactive rather than proactive. I used to rely on price breaks above the 200day moving average, and if there was a breakout, I'd buy. I'd NEVER take profit. I used a trailing stoploss that'd loosen as the price trend developed in my favour, and stayed in the trade. The only time I would exit a trade is when my trailing stoploss got hit. So I'd ride out all the intra-trend volatility until the trend fully exhausted.

If the breakout had no follow-through, I'd simply get stopped out with minimal losses. Most trades don't work, but the ones that do are home runs.

I believe that trends exhibit themselves in almost all markets, and they take time (months, maybe even years) to fully establish. The profit lies in capturing the full extent of a trend. No aim on trying to be precise in catching pivot entries, and a hard rule about never setting a static "take profit" level.

It's unintuitive in the sense that humans want to have a take profit price, because they want the money. Given the fact you have a defined (losing) stoploss, and no defined "take profit" level; you're subverting other traders heuristics, while staying patient.

Looking at the market now, that strategy won't work; there are simply no opportunities, and there hasn't been any since around the time HIGHSTREET and other alts exhibited trends.

Ideally, the longer a trend sustains, the better you'll make off. i.e., with Solana, I had more time to add exposure, gear up, and loosen the trailing stoploss. If you look at the Solana chart, Jan-May 2023, to Jan 2024 (when I exited the trade) - that's a perfect set up in my opinion.

It's a shame I couldn't have stayed in the trade longer. Price seemed to have almost hit $300 in Jan 2025.

The takeaway is that another trade will always come along.

A great non-crypto example is Cocoa in late 2022 to 2024.

An equity version would be NVIDIA in the same timespan. A crucial takeaway is having that counterintuitive approach toward profit taking, and riding out the trend to it's fullest. I couldn't even ride out the full extent of Solana. But being rules based, I couldn't.
