It's pricey, and it takes time to recover, but shoe lifts can only take you so far. If you manage to come up with a long term economic plan, use your youth to start a business or land a good job that pays well, by your late 20s you will probably be able to afford it and take the year off.

But I'm pretty sure you can run, issue is that people try to cheap out and go to bad clinics, which don't offer physical therapy to recover, and even if the clinic offers it, they probably don't do it properly, or they just over-extend and get some ridiculous like 5 or 6 inches of height gain which is too much.

If you play it safe with your gain and do your PT you will regain most of your functions, assuming you don't have complications.
