He’s very concerned about politics and is a progressive and believes that life should be solved to help others reduce suffering and egalitarian ideals are the only moral choice and all this bullshit

I don’t know how to break it to him that he’s bought into an elaborate lie

There is no “solving” life, there is only your life. There is no point, no reason, no purpose. You exist and then you die, you can solve all of life’s problems but that is pointless because you can’t solve the problem of life itself. Life’s problems are solved for every individual the moment they die.

Here’s the solution to life, make as much money as you can, indulge as much as you can in what you enjoy and leave it all on the table. Fuck everyone and everything, fuck the future, fuck the next generation, fuck em all. Not your problem. You will be dead one day. Stop concerning yourself with grand schemes and visions for the future, whether or not you will be remembered, who fucking cares?

the best situation would been to not exist in the first place but the second best is for your existence to end quickly. You want your life to be a constant stream of enjoyment so that it passes by quickly and pleasurably, so that you wake up one day when you’re 80 and think to yourself “well that was fun” and then turn over and fall into blissful eternal sleep.
