I read everywhere that chewing is effective so I'll share my experience.
I did it during one year and half. I started with Mastic gum then I switched with Chisel Tough Bite. With Chisel, I felt a lot of work, my masseters were really exhausted after a session.
I did the exercise 4 times per week, 5-10 mins.
Results : 404
I absolutely got 0 result. No masseter growth. At least nothing noticeable, still the same ovale jaw.
My conclusion : Masseters are small and very powerfull muscles, very hard to hypertrophy. A lot of people (like me) will probably strenghten the muscle without making it noticeably bigger.
Bruxism is something else and you don't want it.
I don't really know about my insertion. I can tell you that I have low position of gonions, normal gonial angle.
Is chewing worth it? According with my experience, it's not
