Title. I'm ded srs. I have a cousin who was a drug dealer/plug. He grew up in a middle class immigrant family in the Midlands. Their parents moved from India in the 90s

He went to one of those selective grammar schools. His parents fought to get him into he smashed the 11-plus. Still remember his parents bragging the shit out of that he also used to get great grades in maths and science teachers apparently saying he'd be the first in the family to go to a Russell Group.

Sixth form is when all went down. He was about 17 and feeling the weight of expectations. I wouldn't talk to him too much but he'd tell me he felt a bit like an outsider at the grammar school. It was predominantly white posh-ish kids and even though he was bright there was low-level racism that wore him down over the years. They'd make Curry or Paki jokes even though he's Indian. being asked if his parents owned a shop in that stereotypical way

I don't exactly know when he became a drug dealer but iirc it started with a falling out with his dad. There was a big falling out with his dad proper shouting matches about A level choices, future career and him feeling controlled and he rebelled and became associated with the street kids. Mostly blacks and white thugs and chavs

That's when he got pulled into dealing. Began with just moving weed for mates at parties but quickly linked up with Albanian nighas and some county lines runners shifting cannabis, ketamine, sometimes coke. He wasn't at the top of anything like that but was making decent money

It caught up with him in a 2 years. Police kicked his door in after a sting and found scales, baggies, a decent amount of product and cash. They charged jom with possession with intent to supply Class B mainly cannabis and ket. He pleaded guilty straight away but he was still young so the judge went relatively lenient. Four months inside a Category C prison/young offenders place, then out on licence with probation and community payback

His parents were devasted and have kept a low key profile since then. Their rep was absolutely destroyed in their community. They had no face to show so they avoided and still avoid attending events to not talk about it. I haven't heard from my cousin or them in a long time now but last I heard he was doing some retail job. Shelf stacking and I've heard he's saving up to do a forklift course so he can move into warehouse work for better money but I'm not sure. I'd like to meet him again.

I know of dealer networks in prestigious schools, both private and top government schools. They are usually self contained, insular and don't rely on the street demand.

Are you the most successful person in your family, the one relatives often cite as an example?

These stories are brutal, imagine working so hard to get out of your shithole, fleeing poverty and corruption to the shinier part of the globe only for your son to become a bum and disrespect the entire family like that.

That's exactly why his parents are still in shock. They are still extremely disappointed and embarassed of their son. It's like they have already disowned him but don't want to tell him or something like that

He rode the .com bubble to reach where he is rn. It was a mix of perfect timing, hardwork and lot of luck to reach where he is.

I knew of a case even worse than this, I don't want to publicly state every detail but the guy got 15 years in federal prison. The family lived a typical outer suburban American lifestyle, gigantic detached house and decent life... only for it to be wasted because the son was a dumb motherfucker and messed with the wrong crowd.

Dont know man. Hopefully I'll be able to ride a bubble that comes my way like he did too. If this AI thing lasts for a few more years I'll be able to benefit out of it too

How do people find out about this within a community? Is it public information?

Hey I mean at least he's trying now, he's probably still young (?) and can change things

Not really

The average grammar school is a shithole tbh

Marginally better than your average state school

My grammar skl (best in the country) is considered to be relatively difficult to get into but

I think its all about how much work u put in prior

Anyways my school is opening a private school in india and dubai

Brutal.

I've always wondered why these governments don't just legalize drugs so these ethnic gangs can't make money off it.
