My dad wants me to go to my friend’s grandma’s funeral, but I’m not sure I’m emotionally ready to go.

My dad told me he wants me to go with the family to my friend’s grandmother’s funeral this Saturday. She was a very kind elderly woman, and I genuinely respect her and would like to pay my respects.

At the same time, I’m not feeling emotionally ready to be around many people right now. It’s not that I don’t care or don’t want to honor her. I’m just worried that the social side of the funeral might feel overwhelming for me at the moment.

I’d be okay with paying my respects quietly, but I may not be able to handle the public/social part very well right now.
