for example, when my grandpa died, i felt nothing. no empathy for the people crying around me, and i didnt even shed a tear. now i am starting to feel sad for the situation and that i wont see him again. another example, when my grandma threw up in the car next to me, i felt no empathy for her situation, she was sick, naseous, and suffering and all i could think was how disgusting she made the car smell. in the moment i always feel nothing. maybe i dont even feel empathy after, maybe its just guilt for not feeling it and thats the feeling i get. like being mad at myself for not resonating and understanding the people around me.

Feeling no reaction to a “sad” or “serious” moment but having some after the fact is normal and it’s just the way you cope with your emotions. What’s not normal is not feeling empathy at all, talk to someone about this and get to have a connection with someone who you could trust. Or if you think this is really serious talk to a professional on why you feel this way.

I dont even feel bad when my Mom cries, I just laugh it off, it is normal. You didnt even know your grandpa so well, meaning the relationship was never strong enough to make you feel empathy from his death.
I also would laugh at my grandma throwing up LOL:LOL:
