I wanted to share my MSE experience so far since there’s a lot of mixed info on here and elsewhere.
I got my MSE installed about a year and a half ago. Before that I had the typical narrow palate + recessed midface look. I mewed for like two years straight but didn’t see any real changes besides maybe better tongue posture. Eventually decided to go for MSE after talking to an ortho who actually knew what he was doing (not the Invisalign kind).
The activation phase was rough ngl. The pressure between the eyes feels crazy at first — like your skull’s being pushed open. I ended up with around 6mm expansion over three months. When the diastema showed up I was lowkey freaked out but also hyped because that’s when you know it’s working.
After consolidation and getting the gap closed, the difference became more obvious:
My cheekbones look higher and wider.
Under-eye area filled out a bit.
Breathing through the nose feels way easier.
Jawline looks sharper just from overall structure change.
Now, a year post-expansion, people tell me I “look more mature” or “different.” It’s not some crazy transformation overnight, but the changes are definitely real. MSE isn’t cheap or comfortable, but if your suture’s still open and you’ve got that recessed look, it’s honestly the best structural fix short of surgery.
I know i used the pictures often but i just wanna share my experience in still chopped but i think its a massive difference
I added another photo from 8 months ago at the very right since i got comments about different photos
