This is my first time losing VIP on Looksmax.org after being used to having it, and I honestly didn’t expect the difference to be this noticeable. I knew VIP had its benefits, obviously, but I think you only really appreciate some of them once you suddenly don’t have them anymore.

The biggest difference for me by far has been the ads. I’m not saying this to complain or be disrespectful because I completely understand that websites cost money to operate. Servers, development, maintenance, moderation, and everything else behind the scenes aren’t free, so having advertisements for regular users makes sense. VIP is also supposed to provide a better experience, so having an ad-free site as one of the benefits is completely reasonable.

Still, going from VIP back to being a regular user made me realize just how much the ads affect the browsing experience. When I had VIP, I never thought about advertisements because they simply weren’t there. I could open threads, scroll through posts, read replies, and move around the forum without anything distracting me from the actual content.

Now that I’ve lost VIP, the ads immediately stand out. It almost feels like I’m browsing a different version of the website. The forum itself is obviously still the same, but everything feels a lot busier when you’ve gotten used to the cleaner VIP experience.

That’s probably what surprised me the most. If you’ve always browsed without VIP, you probably get used to the ads and eventually stop noticing them. But after spending a long time without seeing them, suddenly having them again makes every single one much more noticeable.

I actually caught myself thinking, “Was it always like this?” Not because anything necessarily changed, but because I had genuinely forgotten what normal browsing looked like. VIP had basically become the default version of the site for me.

I want to make it clear that I’m not attacking the site or the staff over this. I understand why advertisements exist, and I’m not expecting the website to operate for free. If anything, losing VIP has actually made me appreciate its value more.

Before this, if somebody asked me about the ad-free benefit, I probably would’ve just said, “Yeah, it’s nice,” without thinking much about it. Now I understand how much it actually improves the experience, especially when you spend a lot of time reading threads.

It doesn’t make the regular site unusable or anything dramatic like that. I can obviously still browse, post, and use the forum normally. It’s just noticeably less clean compared to what I had gotten accustomed to.

There’s also something funny about never really appreciating the absence of advertisements while you have VIP. You don’t open the website every day thinking, “Wow, I’m so glad there are no ads here.” You simply get used to the cleaner experience. Then VIP disappears and suddenly you notice exactly what you were getting from it.

I’ve probably thought more about ads since losing VIP than I ever did while actually having VIP.

In a weird way, losing VIP might be one of the best advertisements for VIP itself. When I had it, the benefits became normal to me. Now that I don’t have it, I understand their value much more.

I’m not saying this because I expect VIP back or want special treatment either. I’m just sharing my experience of losing it for the first time. The ads aren’t the end of the world, and I completely respect that the site needs to support itself somehow.

I just never realized how used to the clean VIP experience I had become until I lost it.

You really don’t appreciate having no ads until the ads come back.

I always found it weird how adblockers don't get rid of the ads aswell. I'm not sure why.
