This is Ryan Lesson. He is the founder of

1000104411

He's worked as a Senior Engineer at Walmart, Calibre etc has around 15+ years of experience in the industry. He's not one of those "insane geniuses that built Facebook copy in college, raised 5 million on SaaS at 20, and worked at MAANG" types but more of a down to earth, above average IT guy who built a solid career through steady progress and wide experience

1000104415

Outside of tech he's a powerlifter and a gym enthusiast. What's cool is that he retired in 30s a self-made millionaire.and now lives a quiet life on his farm in Wyoming while managing his business remotely He's married has a son, and keeps things simple no flexing with expensive shit. Just a quite simple life

do you think i should get into coding?

I always liked it as a concept. I used to code mods for some roguelike games but it wasnt anything outstanding.

Just with the whole rise of AI, im not sure if its worth getting into. By 2029 all coding jobs will probably be replaced by AGIs.

How about you stop asking what you should do to strangers. Whatever reply they will give you won't change anything.

Yes ofc. Coding is one of those skills that multiples than keeps you in a box even many financecels are being forced to learn basic coding so are many data analysts etc. Coding has been democratised and coding is only 10% of what you do as a software developer.

And why do you say that? it'll change a lot if i get a good anwser. Im down to start and try new things if i deem it worthwhile. Jason seems like a successful enough guy for me to trust with my decisions.

Your advice may be great I'm not here to deny it. But it's based on your biases, your perception of the world and life, your location, your opportunities...

I saw 4 posts like that in the span of 5 minutes, asking what should they be doing in the future. And it triggered me.
Asides that, yes, Preston seems to have life experience and is a lovely guy with a lot of knowledge.

Yeah i get your viewpoint then.

I just always wanted to start doing something in my freetime that isnt mindlessly rotting away or gaming, but i never knew how to start.

If i get help with that, i wouldnt mind going deep into it - especially since i'm on my PC a lot.

He could've spent a few more years making even more money to give his family more generational wealth. He seems very intelligent but I guess he figured he wants to spend his years enjoying life while he still can instead of waiting till he's 40+ and starts developing health issues. Good for him tbh.

Give tips on improving typing speed. I tried using a mechanical keyboard but failed.

tbh my typing speed is shit. the only way you can improve typing speed is by specifically practicing it, there's a ton of websites on it, be it learning how to touch type or optimizing typing speed for coding

I always wanted one of those fancy ass mechanical keyboard. I liked the idea of having a loud ass keyboard with clicky keys that feel like old achool typewriters.

I ended up getting something like this. I can't recall the brand or model but it had that full sized layout, chunky keycaps, RGB lighting the whole PC master race vibe

1000104430

But I soon realized that after using my laptop for years. I have gotten so used to typing on low profile keys that my fingers and hand quickly get tired on elevated keyboards like these. Within a few minutes of typing I experience wrist fatigue and because of the long key travel for the key to get activated my typing speed has also slowed down lot. Productivity decreased instead of what I thought would be a good purchase and I still strongly prefer being on my laptop despite already investing in a PC that is now collecting dust and occasionally i play games on.

i used to use a hhkb keyboard in high-school but in college i bought a kinesis360 and my wrists have never felt better but i didn't get the customized version for 1k$+ which i defo shouldve done. the switches are fucking ASS dude so i mostly just use my X1's keyboard for coding now

Same I almost do all my typing on my macbook air but the thing is the macbook keyboard is unique so once you get used to it it's hard to switch

It's easier if you YouTube holy pandas tbh it doesn't get deeper than just very nice switches which are the analog switch for the key to fire the keystroke. You have multiple ways to customize your build with obscure materials or whatever, you can spend stupid money on it so do big research

Well in the "serious" "keeb" world this is like the casual choice but they are really nice indeed. I ran blacks for a long time since I really like slamming the keys, blacks have more resistance than others. They sell switch testers on the internet for a decent price before spending on the whole set.

Yeah for a while I was really into it and kept selling to buy more nowadays I don't really "care" that much. My desktop keyboard is a keychron K8 pro where I put the switches I wanted. Mainly because I want ISO-ES layout and most custom PCBs are JP or US. They're nice, not the best but it comfy and it just works.
