My female bird is quite nasty to my male bird

I have a couple of budgies, a male and a female. Every night, he tries to give her a goodnight kiss and she bites him hard. Then he tried to help her when she was laying eggs and she pecked at him til he lost some feathers and drew blood . He's been very sweet and kind to her- he feeds her and sings to her, she is very mean to him. I have come to the conclusion that females are more evil in every species!
