My first 2000$/vial injection with CGRP inhibitors (Vyepti)

had my first IV infusion yesterday, it was very fast-acting and in the evening i could feel my senses and everything getting much clearer.

background: ive been having debilitating migraine attacks, sometimes up to 5-6 times per week with very strong brainstem aura that included loss of vision, numbness in the left part of my body etc.

now that ive been awake for a couple of hours, it feels like ive been given access to consciousness premium:
-4k vision without loss of FOV,weird tracers,blurring
-clear thoughts, thinking hard is painless and i can focus hard without it triggering migraines
-NO FUCKING PAIN

niggers, this is awesome. i hope the effects will last, but they should supposedly get stronger after the first 3 months of treatment.

also: i pay 0$/month its all covered by insurance

but from what I understand you were in a lot of pain and now you’re not so that is good. Also I read the last line that it's covered by insurance so that's sweet aswell

Nah, I'm not on them but I know about them

The placebo for them is very strong as well, in studies like if there's an 8 migraine decrease per month then around 5 are placebo but the treatment is statistically significant

yeah theyre great. also in the czech republic you dont have to beg your insurance to put you on anything, i was literally given a choice to pick ANY cgrp inhibtor option including oral (gepants) or auto-injections (ajovy etc). our healthcare is awesome

yeah theyre great. also in the czech republic you dont have to beg your insurance to put you on anything, i was literally given a choice to pick ANY cgrp inhibtor option including oral (gepants) or auto-injections (ajovy etc). our healthcare is awesome

I mean if they're willing to do CGRP inhib, then that's already amazing! They're extremely expensive once you account it annually.

yeah theyre expensive as shit, but theyre fully covered after youve tried 2 types of prophylaxes, i did valproate and metoprolol, neither of which had any significant effect. so i was referred into a specialized center where they put me on vyepti after letting me pick

ive been havin migraines since i had meningitis at 14, typically every 6 months. but it intensified a lot during/after my trip to japan in 2023, when i was freshly 20. i was on valproate for only 2 months and i didnt get any of those sides.

yeah, especially the hemiplegic/severe aura migraines are fucking horrible. you basically get a mini-stroke every fucking day, without permanent damage tho thankfully

It’s a legit treatment if you are willing to spend around 8k a year. These aren’t as common as you might think. Definitely a first world A tier city treatment lol.

Migraine in simple terms is just constriction of arteries in your brain, less blood supply = less oxygen = hypoxia of neural tissues leading to pain.

I would have suggested anti hypertensives like propranolol since they basically dilate and relax the arteries, if that isn’t strong enough only then move on to calcitonin gene related peptides.

Every time you came back from the hospital make sure to tell em to check for your BP too. Chronic infusion tends to, not all but sometimes, lead to hypertension especially if you have a genes for it - usually when parents too are hypertensive.

Also if you feel any extremities of your body, like toes and fingers turn a little cold or blue, look up Raynaud’s phenomenon, asses the similarity and then consult the doc ASAP.
