Kan-Llama was at AGG 1.01 vs. GPT-4o was at 0.91. AGG (Aggregate/overall score) but the key wins were in multilingual models. Tbh its expected for specialized smaller language models to outperform frontier models like ChatGPT 4.o in tasks like these.

Specialization explains part of it but a 7B student built model on relatively weak Llama-2 beating and keeping up with a frontier system on FC, CON, and AGG in multilingual eval isn't trivial. Fine tuned models rarely surpass frontier models even in their own domain. That's what makes his that impressive
