First off, how did this became such a huge thing? You don’t have to be a genius to easily debunk / laugh at most of the commentary made on these podcasts. Yet, they’ve gotten so many followers/views and so much support?
It’s easy to laugh it off watching from a screen, but when someone in your life starts spewing that same nonsense… it’s alarming. To hear my M(24) friend say that he now believes “females” decrease in “value” the more sexual partners they have/the more children they have…. BRO WHAT. He also asks me if I’m aware that I have it more easier in life than him because I’m a woman.. um okay let’s just pretend that the patriarchy doesn’t exist and affect me or countless other women anymore? He’s also started to make friends with like-minded men.
How sad is it that these “men” have created such toxic spaces to lure insecure young people into? A lot of these opinions are blatant ignorance/ sexism, but some are very scary and concerning- literally praising and teaching how to mentally abuse and manipulate women. So don’t get me started with the pathetic claims of “it’s men giving advice and looking out for other men” “they support men’s mental health”
No. No they do not. They project all of their misdirected insecurity, resentment, and anger onto women- oh, sorry I mean “females”.
It truly makes me sad to see my friend go down this misogynistic rabbit hole. It also makes me sad that I didn’t realize how much he was lacking in support from the men in his life. If he had it, there would be no need to fall into this false sense of brotherhood. The patriarchy negatively affects everyone, not just women.
Men: if you’re starting to think life is treating you unfairly and you’re not getting what you think you deserve solely because of the existence of women, please go see a therapist before you get the urge to walk on over to Best Buy to buy a microphone for your podcast.
