My Friends Grandfather Was A NAZI

So for context, i was at my friends house and we were just talking and his mom casually brought up up his grandfather was a Nazi, so i asked if he was joking cause i didn't know he was being serious and showed me old pictures and old things his grandfather had ( flags, suits, vests, even a fucking ring ) and he said he never met him but i think of it to be weird for him to tell me this now even though we have been friends for like 3 years.
