My hairs thinning at 17 need help.

My hairs thinning not a crazy amount but it’s noticeable when my hairs wet, I wanna stop it now before it gets worse.
Wasn’t like this before I do have relatively thick hair
Is oral minoxidil the only thing I need it is there anything else?

What’s the difference?

They are both 5 alpha reductase inhibitors, but dutasteride inhibits more forms of 5 alpha reductase. Here's a quick comparison off the top of my head:

Fin:
- 1mg a day (usually)
- FDA approved
- stays in the body for a relatively short time
- pretty strong

Dut:
- 0.5mg a day (usually)
- Used off label for hair loss (assuming you're in the US)
- stays in the body for weeks
- stronger

Both suppress DHT effectively, but I'd go for finasteride just to start. You want to avoid the sexual side effects because they are brutal, so you should be taking the lowest severity drug that still works for you.

Using dutasteride for mild hair loss is like buying new shoes because the soles got dirty, its overkill. If finasteride doesn't work, up the dose or turn to dutasteride
